This July It’s Time To…
From Your Unreliable Backup & Recovery Procedures And
Rest Easy That Your Computer Network and Data Are Safe
When A Disaster Occurs
Finally and Forever!
If your computer network and the data it holds got erased or destroyed because of a virus, hard drive crash, fire, flood, or by some other random or unforeseen disaster, how confident are you RIGHT NOW that your business could be back up and running again QUICKLY?
If your answer is, “I don’t know,” or “I’m not sure” you are taking a HUGE risk with your company’s most important asset- the data on your network.
We have all heard the horror stories of the fires that are occurring this summer in Colorado. What if a similar situation happened near you? Would you be prepared? These recent incidents have reminded me all too clearly that business owners could be unequipped for an emergency involving their data.
Many business owners aren’t 100% certain that they could be back up and running after a disaster and are purely hoping that their current tape drive or backup is working and storing a usable copy of their data.
Hope Is NOT A Good Strategy
When It Comes To Your Company’s Data!
That’s why I’m writing you today. My name is Rob Johnson, Huber Advantage Manager at Huber & Associates. If you want to sleep easy at night knowing that your business wouldn’t skip a beat in the face of a major disaster, hacker attack, virus or other data-erasing disaster, I have some very important information you need to know…
The 3 Biggest Misunderstandings Businesses Have About Their Backup Systems That Give Them A False Sense Of Security:
Misunderstanding #1: Tape Backups Are A Fool Proof Way To Secure Your Data. Wrong! Most people don’t realize that ALL tape drives fail at some point. But what’s really dangerous is that most companies don’t realize it happened UNTIL it’s too late.
That’s why thousands of businesses lose millions of dollars worth of data to disasters like fires, power outages, theft, equipment failure, and even simple human mistake. In almost every case, these businesses had some type of backup system in place, but were horrified to find out it wasn’t working when they needed it most.
In addition to the fact that they are unreliable and are guaranteed to fail at some point, tape drives require a user to swap out the tapes on a daily basis. If someone forgets, goes on vacation, or leaves the company, the plan falls through.
Misunderstanding #2: Backing Up Your Data Will Allow You To Quickly & Easily Restore Your Network To Its Original State. This is a MAJOR misconception!
Having a copy of your data doesn’t guarantee this at all – something many business owners don’t realize until they are faced with restoring the data. To help you understand, let me give you a simple analogy…
Let’s suppose we made an exact replica of all the items in your house right now and put them offsite in a storage facility that is a backup of your “data.” If your house burned to the ground (God forbid!), we would have to rebuild the HOUSE (which is the server, software and supporting environment) BEFORE we could restore all your items back from the storage facility. Obviously, rebuilding takes some time.
That’s why simply having an offsite copy of your data doesn’t guarantee you’ll be back up and running QUICKLY. It could take several days – possibly weeks – before everything was restored; and that’s assuming you HAVE the data in a clean state and all the originally installed software disks.
Misunderstanding #3: Backups will automatically work and don’t require testing. I see this happening a LOT – business owners think their backups are working because they don’t see any error messages or apparent problems. Then, when they need to restore a file, they discover the backups stopped working MONTHS ago and all that data is gone.
You need someone monitoring and conducting test restores or “fire drills” on a regular basis to make absolutely certain everything is working just fine.
Just take a look at another example of when data recovery is essential to a business. This recent disaster happened to a business that backed up its data with Huber & Associates. (All names have been withheld to protect the company’s privacy.)
Local Business Successfully Recovers Lost Data
A local business discovered that an employee was providing confidential company information to an outside contact. At the risk of being fired, the employee deleted the incriminating e-mails and company data. After learning of the incident, company management contacted Huber & Associates to retrieve the deleted e-mails and information. Not only was Team Huber able to recover the needed information, we did it in record time.
A $500 “Fourth of July” FREE Gift…
Since it’s the Fourth of July, I’d like to give you a FREE Disaster Recovery Assessment to help you rest assure that your data is safe from problems that could endanger your computer network and jeopardize the safety of your data. Why should you care about this?
Hackers and viruses use many ways to access your network, undetected, to embezzle your information, steal your identity, and use your network as a conduit for spreading spam, viruses, and even illegal software. And we never know when a disaster will hit us.
Your files should be backed up on a weekly- if not DAILY- basis to ensure the maximum level of safety and security of your data. If you don’t backup regularly, you are at risk of losing important data.
Do You Want To Know For Sure If Your Data Is Safe?
Our FREE Disaster Recovery Assessment Will Reveal the Truth…
During this FREE Disaster Recovery Assessment, we will remotely:
- Audit your current data backup and security procedures, including tape rotation and maintenance schedule to see if ALL of your data really is being backed up in a secure way and in a format that can easily be restored.
- Audit your current offsite backup system and provider to see if they can guarantee a fast, safe recovery of your data.
- Review your current procedures for onsite backups. Many people don’t realize they damage their tapes (and thereby corrupt their data) by improperly caring for their storage devices.
- Check your network backups to make sure they are accurately backing up all of the critical files and information you would NEVER want to lose.
- Discuss current data protection needs and explain, in plain English, where your risks are. We know everyone has a different level of risk tolerance, and we want to make sure all the risks you’re taking with your data are by choice, not because of miscommunication or accident.
There Is Only One Small “Catch”…
Obviously, I’d like to extend this offer to any business that calls. I’ve only offered this to our current Huber Advantage clients. I cannot make an offer like this open-ended, or we could end up overwhelming our staff. Therefore, we are only going to make this offer available until July 20, 2012! After that, we’ll have to charge you our normal rate of $500 to perform this type of assessment.
To schedule your FREE Disaster Recovery Assessment, simply fill out the form below BEFORE 7/20/12.
