The first thing to keep in mind with a network security assessment is that you need to determine what you’re trying to accomplish. Yes, keeping your network safe from hackers is a must, however, it’s much more than that. You need to know what your network’s strengths and weaknesses are and how both could be turned against you. It may be a bit simplistic but think of your security like a castle wall. Your enemy is constantly searching for vulnerabilities to exploit, and unfortunately those can arise at the front gate if your castle was designed poorly. Don’t assume something in your security is a current strength simply because it has been in the past.
After you run the security assessment, you’ll need to take an objective look at the report. The worst thing you can do at this stage is to gloss over things that may be difficult to address. Be open to the changes your assessment suggests, as they will only increase your security level. Ignoring issues weakens your defense against the invading armies of Hackertopia (that’s a made up country, don’t panic).
At Huber & Associates, we take your network security very seriously, and will run a full assessment to give you the best recommendations possible. Everything we suggest is given with the goal of ensuring your data is kept safe while remaining accessible to authorized personnel. Have questions? We have answers.
