Solution Specialist

Reports To: Chief Revenue Officer

Status:  Full-Time

Classification: Exempt

SUMMARY

A Solution Specialist must understand multiple technologies in a customer’s environment including automation, Kubernetes, servers, storage area networks, multiple operating systems (VMware, Windows, Linux), and software. A Solution Specialist must interface with the customer and have excellent presentation skills, as well as sales acumen and selling skills. They will act as a technical sales consultant to the customer. They will spend time doing technical analysis, research, presentations, and documentation before a sale

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Working knowledge of multiple types of hardware including storage, server, backup, networking, firewalls, automation, containers, virtualization, and security.
  • Working knowledge of operating systems and Hypervisors such as Microsoft Windows, Kubernetes, VMware, and Redhat.
  • Working knowledge of multiple pieces of software such as Ansible, Openshift, Nutanix, Redhat, and others as assigned.
  • Understand licensing models and how different products are sold
  • Provides presales presentations, support, and is able to function alone on sales calls
  • Must be able to understand how to marry business problems to IT solutions.
  • Must be able to communicate well with customers to gain information on budgets and requirements
  • Provides consulting to customer before a sale to determine the solutions they need. This may be in the form of a TCO analysis, different technology studies, or other reports.
  • Must be able to pass certification tests as needed
  • Must be detailed oriented and communicate effectively and respectfully with end-users, sales staff, and co-workers
  • Work with customers to determine scope of projects
  • Prepare statements of work for projects
  • Be quick to learn new technology as required
  • Responsible for customer retention and satisfaction
